Bob Lee

Professor Robert Lee is currently a Co-Director of the ESRC Centre on Business Relationships, Accountability, Sustainability and Society (BRASS) (www.brass.cardiff.ac.uk).

He is an environmental lawyer and an acknowledged expert on contaminated land and on waste management. Bob is Chair of the multi-disciplinary Cardiff Foundation of Environmental Research which seeks to generate funding for Environmental Research across all disciplines at Cardiff University. He is editor of Environmental Law Monthly, Series Editor for the International Library of Environmental Law & Policy and the Environmental Editor for the Journal of Business Law. His interest is in regulatory issues as evidenced by his book with Derek Morgan entitled Human Fertilisation & Embryology - Regulating the Reproductive Revolution (Blackstone Press, 2001). He is currently working on a book on food regulation in Europe.

Bob has spent time in practice with Denton Wilde Sapte and Hammonds but is now a professional development consultant with the Environment, Planning and Regulation Group of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, and he continues to have an active interest in legal practice. This has led to the publication of a research study on large law firms (Firm Views: The Work of and Work in Large Law Firms, Law Society, 1999) and an article on the work of Brussels Law Firms in a special issue of Recht der Werkelijkheid (2004).

Bob was a member of the Law Society's Training Committee between 1996 and 2002. Bob remains on the Law Society's Panel of Reporting Assessors for the Legal Practice Course. Bob was a member of the QAA Benchmarking Panel for Law and sits on the Lord Chancellor's Standing Conference on Legal Education.
