This new course in International Politics covers the area of International Relations, International Security, Development, International Political Economy, and Global Governance. The course will be immediately relevant for students working in the areas of policy-making, international organisations, NGOs, Human Rights, international finance, government and journalism.
The course provides an advanced study of international relations, international security, globalisation and international political economy. The course consists of 3 core modules on global politics, global security and conflict and social research methods. Students are free to choose from a wide range of other modules offered by other social science departments that are directly relevant to the study of International Politics.
The course is delivered through a combination of lectures and small group classes, supported by a personal tutorial system. Lectures are used to provide commentary on and explanation of key content areas. Small group classes are used to develop understanding by inviting students to raise questions and participate in the debate and by providing guidance for further study.
Graduates of this course would be well placed to pursue careers in a wide
range of professions including those in teaching, the civil service, media communications, journalism, international organizations, NGOs, international finance and the public sector.
