Academic Programme

Students

When you apply to City you will be pre-registered for a selection of up to eight courses. We will be in touch with you to ensure the suitability of these courses and provide any further information to help with ensuring their transfer towards the progress of your ultimate degree.

The regular courseload at City University is four courses with the option of also taking an extension course in cultural studies or a practical language. We generally recommend that each course equates to three US semester hours or six ECTS credits for a term length study, four US semester hours or eight ECTS credits for a semester length study and eight US semester hours or 16 ECTS credits for yearlong study. Extension classes are equated at two US semester hours or four ECTS credits. If your home university does not use US semester hours or ECTS we will provide advice on the recommended credit transfer of courses.

Each session we confirm your course choices during orientation. You will meet academics from each school to ensure that you are fully briefed on all your course choices and be able to make any changes you feel are necessary. A week-long add/drop period provides further flexibility.

At the end of your programme at City we will provide a full transcript of your courses and results.
