Applying to Study Abroad at City
Our guide Study Abroad in London is available from the International Office and we are happy to respond to enquiries before you submit an application. We will acknowledge the receipt of all applications.
Your application will be considered on academic merit and we will advise you on individual course choices. You should ensure that you have fully discussed your study plans with your home school advisors. Throughout the application process we are happy to communicate with you and your home school.
It is possible to apply directly to City, via agreements with individual US and other overseas institutions or through a number of Study Abroad programme providers. Students applying to City from the American system should have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
We welcome applications from students at universities in any country and are happy to advise on particular entry requirements for students from all systems. As a general guide we expect applicants to have at least a B average or equivalent.
It is usual for students joining City to be in the third year of a four-year degree scheme. In assessing your application we will look for evidence of a strong academic background. A full transcript and academic reference should be sent in with your application form. We do not charge an application fee.
If your first language is not English and you are not studying at an English language university we require evidence of your English proficiency. We accept IELTS at 6.5; TOEFL100 ibt or an equivalent test. If you do not currently meet this English language requirement you should consider the INTO City University London pre-sessional English courses.
Students applying directly to City or through an individual home school agreement should use this application form. If you are applying through a programme provider you should use their application form and procedures.
