Costs and Funding

The actual costs associated with your exchange will vary depending on the destination and location. Some partner institutions will be located in less expensive areas whereas some are within large cities which can be expensive. Students are responsible for meeting all costs associated with their own exchanges. You are advised to research costs thoroughly, the following includes some general costs:

Airfares: you are expected to cover all travel costs.

Visa fees: if you are studying outside the EU you will need to apply for a visa. Visa application fees vary between countries, the website of your host country's embassy will have the most up to date information on visa fees.

Accommodation: do not rely on the host institution providing accommodation, you will need to research alternative private accommodation.

Living costs: you will need to budget cost including food, energy bills, internet access, social activities, etc.

Books and other educational expenses: you maybe required to purchase academic books or pay for educational trips and excursions.

Health and travel insurance: many countries outside Europe require you to obtain their official student health insurance. This additional cost will need to be included in your budget plans.

Currency exchange costs - your bank might charge you a fee to transfer money between different currencies.

Tuition Fees

You will only pay tuition fees to City whilst on exchange and not to the host institution. Please refer to the table below for information regarding tuition fees and exchange exchange periods.

Scholarships

There are scholarships available to support you whilst on exchange. However, please remember that scholarship funding is often limited, therefore when planning your exchange, you should not rely on receiving a scholarship or grant to assist in your exchange endeavors. Your eligibility to receive these scholarships can be dependent on several factors such as the destination and length of study.
