Incoming Students

Each year City University London welcomes exchange students from around the world. If you are interested in taking an exchange at City, you must meet certain eligibility requirements.

Please follow the steps below, If you meet the following requirements, complete an application form. if you have any questions please email: exchanges@city.ac.uk

Step 1: Exchange Agreement

If you are intending on studying at City University London as part of an exchange, you must be a student at one of City University London's partner institutions and have an exchange agreement for your subject area. Partner Institutions.

Step 2: Obtain an application form

Contact your home institution International Office to request the City Exchange application materials and to confirm your eligibility.

Step 3: Provide academic reference

Obtain an Academic Reference from one of your Tutors/ Professors

Step 4: Provide transcript or statement of results

All exchange applicants are required to provide with their application a transcript / statement of results for all University level studies.

Step 5: Research and select modules

Include a list of modules you wish to study at City. It is your responsibility to ensure that the classes you wish to take at City fulfill the requirements of your degree programme and you have the necessary pre-requisites to take them. Please view courses or request from City Departmental Exchange Coordinators.

Step 6: Write a personal statement

You must write a short essay (1-2 pages) outlining why you wish to come to City for your exchange programme.

Step 7: Provide evidence of English language proficiency

All exchange students must meet the standard language requirements for entry to City University London. Generally this is IELTS 6.5 or equivalent (IELTS 7 for Journalism and Business).

Step 8: Be nominated by your home University

You must be officially nominated by your home institution's Exchange Office.

Step 9: Submit application

The application deadlines below are strictly enforced. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered for the exchange programme.

For study commencing September 2012, you should submit your application by 30th March 2013.

For study commencing January 2013, you should submit your application by 31st October 2013.

Step 10: Apply for accommodation

Accommodation within City Halls of Residence is very limited.

Please note: Students should not apply for accommodation until they receive an official acceptance offer from City.
