Entry Requirements
Entry requirements will vary from course to course, and all decisions on admission are made on an individual basis, so the following entry requirements are only a guide.
Undergraduate courses
All applicants should have completed a high school diploma and hold one of the following:
- SAT I with a minimum of 600 in each of the three main areas and SAT II with a minimum of 600 in each of at least three subjects.
- SAT I with a minimum of 600 in each of the three main areas and at least three relevant AP tests* with a grade of 4 or above in each.
* relevant AP subjects will be those that reflect any specific subject requirements for UK A levels.
Candidates holding the ACT should contact the University for advice.
Postgraduate courses
A four year bachelor degree from a recognised university will be considered for entry to a postgraduate degree. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
The MBA is a mid-career qualification which is not open to fresh graduates. Applicants must have a first class degree, a minimum of three years management level work experience and a GMAT score of 600 or above.
English Requirements
Where an applicant's first language is not English, graduation from high school or a university in the US will be taken as proof of language proficiency. Where a period of time has elapsed between graduation and application to City University London, a language test may be required as detailed below:
Undergraduate - IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 79 is required (IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 100 for business and IELTS 7.0 for journalism and law courses)
Postgraduate - IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 100 is required (IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 107 for business, journalism and law courses)
