Science, technology and mathematics subjects are preferred, and at least one such subject should be offered; though all subject combinations will be considered on their merits. We are happy to make unconditional offers to applicants who already hold suitable qualifications.
We welcome applicants offering other qualifications such as the BTEC National Diploma in relevant subjects (a typical offer is DDD) and the International Baccalaureate (29 IB points), again taking subject profile, personal statement etc into account.
We usually require applicants to present at least 18 units (eg three A levels) or equivalent.
We do not accept GCEs in general studies.
A/AS level in mother tongue other than English count at half value.
We have a minimum requirement of Grade C in GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics.
Key skills will not usually form part of conditional offers, but will be taken into account if the applicant falls short of the stated offer.
Overseas and non-standard qualifications and applications from mature students will be considered on an individual basis. Although we aim to be flexible, decisions will be made on the basis of equivalence to our GCE intake.
