Placements & Internships

Professional development

Professional development shapes everything we do. Enabling skills development and enhancing the sustainable employability of our students is core to our values, therefore we regard career management skills and professional development planning (PDP) as paramount in supporting our placement scheme.

The Professional Liaison Unit (PLU) has embedded professional development into the undergraduate curriculum through the 'Professional Development in IT' module delivered to all second year students. The module focuses on planning in pursuit of achieving excellence, building a portfolio of skills, employability and understanding the professional, legal and ethical issues that underpin the IT industry.

With strong engagement with employers, the Chartered Institute for IT (BCS) and leading practice, we deliver a comprehensive and successful framework for supporting students to realise their career potential and for ensuring our students are equipped with the skills for business.

If you would like to hear more, or would like to be involved, please contact the Professional Liaison Unit.
