PhD Studentships

Occasionally the School of Informatics will have PhD Studentships available which will be advertised on this page.

The Software Engineering Group within the School of Informatics of the University invites applications for a PhD studentship.

The studentship is co-funded by the University and the EU Framework 7 project ASSERT4SOA and is available for carrying out research in the area of certification of service oriented systems as a member of the Software Engineering Group in the Department of Computing. The succesfull applicant will participate in the ASSERT4SOA project.

Applicants should have a first class BSc degree in Computing, a Masters degree in Computing and demonstrate knowledge and practical experience in Java programming. Knowledge in one or more of the areas of service oriented computing, software specification and verification, and certification of software systems security is desirable.

 The PhD studentship provides an annual bursary (this is £15,000 for 2011-12 and is expected to rise in line with inflation in subsequent years) and a full tuition fee waiver. Support for conference travel will also be available where appropriate. The selected applicant is expected to commence his/her studies by the beginning of January 2012.
