"As part of my Business Systems Analysis and Design (BSAD) MSc, I did a six month internship with NHS Information Centre. My role was Information Analyst. I used MS SQL and MS Excel softwares to analyse data from the NHS's national databases, so it  could be published on the NHS websites. It is a mixture of Data Mining, Statistics, and Analysis.

 Part of my project was to apply a quality assurance methodology to the data sets they use. Another student from City University London was working on improving their business processes as a whole."

I did a web strategy internship at a London council as part of my Electronic Publishing masters. I focused on the use of Web 2.0 in local government (both resident and staff-focused) and also web usability regarding the council's web site.

The internship was a great way to learn about local government and a fantastic way to gather data and get ideas for my dissertation. I was exposed to a whole different world I'd never seen before and was able to expand my skills and my experience on my CV as well. I made valuable contacts (both council staff and contractors) as well, which is very important.

Overall, my experience was good and it gave me the opportunity to work somewhere new while fulfilling my academic goals."
