The Dean's Scholarships for Academic and Clinical Excellence

At City, University of London, we believe that exceptional academic and clinical performance should be recognised and rewarded. The School of Health Sciences at City is offering several scholarships to UK, EU and International postgraduate students with a profile of academic and clinical excellence starting one of our MSc Advanced Practice in Health and Social Care courses in the October or January intake or MSc Health Psychology/Psychology and Health in the October intake. The award will be granted strictly on merit after a shortlist and selection process. The decisions will be made by a selection panel and will be final.

MSc Advanced Practice in Health and Social Care

The Scholarship amount is a total of £2,500 for both full-time and part-time students and several scholarships will be awarded in total at the start of the first year of the course. The total amount will be awarded in the form of a fee waiver at the start of the academic year for full-time students, and half of the amount will be awarded in the form of a fee waiver for part-time students in the first and second years of study.

MSc Health Psychology/Psychology and Health

The Scholarship amount is a total of £1,000 for both full-time and part-time students and 10 scholarships will be awarded in total at the start of the first year of the course. The total amount will be awarded in the form of a fee waiver at the start of the academic year for full-time students, and half of the amount will be awarded in the form of a fee waiver for part-time students in the first and second years of study.

Eligibility criteria

To qualify for The Dean's Scholarship, you must:

  • be a self-funded student and not in receipt of any other scholarships;
  • be a full or part time student;
  • demonstrate academic and/or clinical excellence and a commitment to advancing your clinical and/or academic skills;
  • be in your first year of postgraduate study for the October or January intake on any one of the routes of the MSc Advanced Practice in Health and Social Care course

OR

  • be in your first year of postgraduate study for the MSc Health Psychology/Psychology and Health course;
  • demonstrate academic and clinical excellence and a commitment to advancing your clinical and academic skills.

Application and selection

To apply, please write a statement (of up to 800 words in length) explaining why you believe you should be awarded the scholarship, why you want to do the course and how you will use it to shape your future career. Please use the official scholarships form, remembering to include a word count. You can upload the statement as a supplementary document in your online application, or email it to our Programme Administration team at pghealth@city.ac.uk if you have already applied. Please state your full name and student number if this is known, together with the full name of the course for which you have registered.

Deadline for MSc Advanced Practice in Health and Social Care applications for September 2016 was 12pm on Monday 22nd August 2016.

Deadline for MSc Health Psychology/Psychology and Health applications for October 2016 is 12pm on Friday 2nd September 2016.

A selection panel will shortlist candidates on merit and the top candidates will be awarded the scholarships.

The amount will be deducted from the September 2016 tuition fee instalment of a full-time student. For part-time students, the awarded amount will be deducted from the September 2016 and September 2017 tuition fee instalments.
