Funded research projects
In 2008 Lucy and Madeline Cruice were granted £5000 of City University Pump Priming funds for an exploratory linguistic analysis of the language used by 30 aphasic stroke individuals when discussing their quality of life. This is an exciting new collaboration providing a unique opportunity to blend clinical linguistics with quality of life research.
In 2007 Lucy was granted £4,939.69 of City University Pump Priming funds for a pilot study looking at Gesture in Aphasia, in collaboration with Naomi Cocks and Gary Morgan at City as well as Kita Sotaro from the University of Birmingham. The research team is currently preparing 2 papers arising out of the project:
- Cocks, N., Dipper, L., Morgan, G. and Sotaro K. (in prep.). The difference in form of two types of iconic gesture: Evidence from a single case study of conduction aphasia.
- Dipper, L., Cocks, N., Morgan, G. and Sotaro K. (in prep.). A single case study of a participant with conduction aphasia: What aphasic language impairment tells us about the relationship between speech and gesture production.
