Judith Sunderland

Career summary

Having worked as both a nurse and midwife Judith developed her interests in HIV and pregnancy. Judith was involved in the implementation of antenatal HIV testing in pregnancy, and the care and management of women who were diagnosed as a result of this process. During this time she undertook an MA in Refugee Studies at the university of East London. Having worked as an HIV Specialist Midwife for eight years, Judith left clinical practice and joined City University as a Midwifery Lecturer in September 2004. Judith is currently the programme Director for the BSc (hons) Midwifery Shortened Programme and is in the process of undertaking the MA in Academic Practice. Judith also works one session a week as a nurse in a young people's family planning clinic.
