Profile

Belinda is a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) who obtained her Honours (Speech and Language Therapy and Audiology) and Masters (Speech Pathology) degrees in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Science, University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. She was awarded a Linguistics Studentship in the Department of Human Communication, UCL, where she completed her PhD.

Belinda is currently working with Tim Pring and Shula Chiat on a three year project investigating intervention for children with language difficulties through a series of single case studies. In addition to the current project, her research interests include the relationship between speech and language disorders and how this translates into efficient and effective clinical practice. Her PhD focused on the expressive syntactic abilities of children with different types of speech disorders, with particular emphasis on issues relating to assessment and co-occurrence.

Apart from her research position in the department, she works clinically with children with speech and language difficulties, and lectures both under-graduate and post-graduate students on the topics of assessment and intervention for children with speech and/or language difficulties.
