Public Clinics

Mainstream Schools Outreach Programme

A number of 'Outreach Programmes' have been developed and carried out in recent years. These have included projects in collaboration with secondary schools as well as charities. The  projects provided  speech and language therapy services to individuals and groups with communication impairments in contexts where services would otherwise have been lacking. Speech and language therapy students provided the therapy with support from clinical supervisors from the university.

This is a novel project which fulfils a dual purpose: setting up a focused provision where currently there is none available, or where there are significant shortages, as well as offering unique clinical training opportunities for students from City University. In addition it allows for excellent collaborative opportunities between different professionals and organisations.

We would be interested in hearing from anyone who would like to set up an 'Outreach Project' in collaboration with the department.
