Motor Speech Disorder Clinic

LSVTTM (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment) is an effective speech treatment for improving voice and speech in people with Parkinson's disease in the short and the long term (to find out more about LSVTTM, visit www.lsvt.org). The Compass Centre at City UNiversity London provides LSVTTM for people with Parkinson's Disease.

Roughly 89% of people with PD have speech disorder (Logemann et al, 1989). LSVT^TM is an intensive voice treatment provided by students and staff af the Compass Centre, City University London. All students are supported and guided by a speech and language therapist who is trained and certified to deliver LSVT^TM. You may be invited to take part in a research study as this clinic carried out research into the effects of LSVT^TM in people with Parkinson's disease.LSVT^TM involves:

Intensive therapy - 4 hourly sessions for 4 weeks by fully trained staff and students guided by trained and certified LSVT^TM clinicians.
Data collection and analysis for pre and post treatment comparisons.
It may be possible to provide LSVT^TM via a computer and web cam.
