How are Clinical Placements Organised?
Clinical placements are organised for students through the Clinical Placements Team which works in partnership with a similar team from University College, London (UCL) to acquire placements. This partnership was set up to allow Trusts, who offer the placements, a clearer framework in which to operate. Placement acquisition and maintenance is complex because of the large numbers of students and supervisors involved.
The Clinical Placement Team is responsible for:
- Finding placements for all students from Trusts throughout Greater London and beyond
- Managing individual information from every student on the SLT programmes
- Matching placement offers to student needs
- Communicating with all parties
Students are not allowed to make their own clinical placement arrangements. Should a student identify a potential placement in their locality, he or she should ask the placements team to make the contact.
