Fumiko Miyachi: Transitional Metal




Cobalt Duo (Kate Halsall and Fumiko Miyachi) perform a programme of works for two pianos, including Miyachi's L.S. nos.1 & 2, Co27(Cobalt) and Ag47(Silver), taken from her debut album, Transitional Metal (Metier / Divine Art Recordings).

Fumiko Miyachi is a composer and pianist.  Her music is a confluence of driving rhythms, vibrant harmonies and the multicultural influences of her European/Japanese background.

Fumiko’s pieces have been performed by artists from across the world including Opera North and the BBC Singers. As a pianist, she specialises in performing contemporary repertoire and has premiered and performed pieces by composers including Michael Finnissy, Laurence Crane, Joe Cutler and Louis Andriessen.

Fumiko is supported by PRSF Women Make Music Fund as well as Hinrichsen Foundation and Ambache Charitable Trust.
