You may be aware that the University established the City Graduate School recently. All research students registered on a research degree programme at the University, or on one of our validated research degree programmes, are members of the School.
As a research student registered with City, you are invited to attend the official launch of the City Graduate School on Tuesday 09 October 2012 at 5.30 pm in the College Common Room, College Building.
A copy of the programme is available here for your information.
During the event, you will learn how you will benefit from the activities of the Graduate School over the coming months, including access to a conference attendance fund,* meet our newly appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) and the Dean of the Graduate School as well as have the opportunity to hear from Dr Rachel Blanc, a representative at Vitae, on the career destinations of doctoral students. You will also have the opportunity to network with research and other senior academic staff and your fellow researchers. Our new research students will also be invited to attend and we very much hope that you will take this opportunity to welcome them to City.
Places are limited and are offered on a first come first serve basis.
We would also like to take this opportunity to inform you of an event on the 24 September 2012 which sees the Vice-Chancellor unveiling some artwork at 6 pm in the Graduate School Library Centre+ in celebration of the successful Library refurbishment on Level 4 at Northampton Square. The Graduate School Library Centre is a dedicated silent study area and is open to all postgraduate students of the University. You are also invited to attend this event where, again, you will have the opportunity to network with other research students across the University and our academic staff.
For catering purposes, should you wish to attend either event please contact me by email at Naomi.Hammond.firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone on +44(0)20 7040 8106 should you have any further questions.
We look forward to seeing you there.
