What are we going to do about journalism? The role of higher education in the ‘crisis’

6.30pm

Lectures

Public

Inaugural Lecture by Michael Bromley, Professor in International Journalism.

Journalism is confronting a multi-faceted crisis of the declining viability of its major vehicle, the mass media; falling levels of public trust, and deficiencies in its practices. The primary responsibility for preparing journalists lies with institutions of higher education. How, then, can the academy contribute to resolving the crisis in journalism?

Professor Bromley has taught at universities in the UK, USA and Australia. He has published seven books and more than 50 chapters and articles. Prior to working at City he was head of the School of Journalism and Communication at The University of Queensland, Australia. More infomation on Professor Bromley can be found on his staff page
