This year's James Cameron Memorial Lecture will be given by Wadah Khanfar.
Wadah Khanfar, who was until recently Director-General of the Al-Jazeera Network, will give a lecture entitled "Journalism and a World in Transition".
Lecture preview
The human being and human stories are at the heart of authentic journalism. As more and more news organizations give in to commercial interests and political pressures this virtuous aim has become sidelined or altogether corrupted. With vast transformations taking place in nations and societies across all corners of the world there is a call for journalism to return to its core values.
Each journalist has the power to direct destinies and must be courageous enough to exercise this power responsibly for the sake of the people. In the end it is the people's voices, their struggles, their challenges, and their aspirations that form the foundation for journalism.
Registration from 6pm. Booking essential.
