Biomedical Engineering

Biomedical Engineering is a major teaching and research activity of the School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences.  It is focused upon the understanding, development and applications of instrumentation and measurements to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of disease or the rehabilitation of patients. Our course in biomedical engineering offers an excellent and balanced background in mathematics and physical sciences, biomedical and specialist biomedical modules coupled with practical and design expertise.  

Biomedical Engineering is an area that is growing exponentially and the demand for biomedical engineers is increasing rapidly. Our graduates have a wide range of employment opportunities in areas such as the medical technology industry, pharmaceutical industry, NHS and private hospitals, and biomedical research.
