Professional Liaison Unit
The Professional Liaison Unit operates across the Schools of Engineering & Mathematical Sciences and Informatics. The unit supports both students and employers through the process of undertaking or providing placements, internships and work based learning.The PLU offers a variety of bespoke work based learning programmes, all of which have been designed to accommodate varying requirements of students and employers. The PLU also manages the Professional Development in IT module which is designed to help students enhance their employability.
Our Aims
We aim to maximise the student experience, by equipping our students with the tools required to bridge the gap between education and employment.
We do this by:
- Offering student placement and internship schemes across undergraduate and post graduate courses
- Integrating Personal Development Planning (PDP link) and employability into the course material
- Working closely with industry to identify placements and gain professional input for course design
- Offering a simple and complete service that enables organisations to access City Talent
