Ludwik Finkelstein Bursary Fund

Supporting the next generation in engineering education

Ludwik Finkelstein OBE FREng

Emeritus Professor Ludwik Finkelstein OBE FREng joined the academic staff of City University London in 1959, where he went on to become Professor of Measurement and Instrumentation, Dean of the School of Engineering and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University. He retired from full-time employment in 1993 but still works actively in research. Today he is a Senior Research Fellow of City University London’s Measurement and Instrumentation Centre.

In honour of Professor Finkelstein’s 50 years of service to City University London and his outstanding contributions to higher education, specifically his pioneering achievements in teaching and research, City has established the Ludwik Finkelstein Bursary Fund. The Fund will continue Professor Finkelstein’s legacy as one of the University’s longest serving and most respected academics in supporting the education of the future generation of engineers at the University.

The Ludwik Finkelstein Bursary Fund

The Ludwik Finkelstein Bursary Fund will help supplement undergraduate and postgraduate student tuition fees within City’s School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. The Fund will support students with financial needs who consistently perform at a high academic level and show great promise for future success.

Contributions to the Bursary Fund will help City to underpin its belief that no high achieving student should be deterred from higher education and professional development solely because of financial constraints.

In addition, the government-led ‘Matched Funding Scheme for Higher Education’ is designed to support philanthropic giving to higher education by contributing £1 for every £3 you give (until 31 July 2011).
