CFD & Multi-Phase Flows
Research in the area of computational fluid dynamics focuses in the development of computational methods and physical models for various types of multi-phase flows, turbulence and Large Eddy Simulations (LES). Special emphasis is given to cavitation in fuel injectors (see www.cavitation-institute.org for more details), liquid sprays and combustion simulation. In multi-phase flows, the group develops numerical methods for interface tracking coupled with dilute sprays simulation, phase-change processes like vaporisation and LES. In the area of turbulence, the group develops models for fluid-structure interaction and LES for flows applied to bio-mimicking structures. The work of the group is supported by four experienced Marie-Curie fellows.
