Director, Cultural Leadership project
Nicola is Director of the Department of Cultural Policy and Management's award-winning Cultural Leadership Programme. She is particularly interested in promoting a more diverse pool of arts leaders and changing organisational culture so that new leadership styles are widely accepted at the top.
Nicola came to City from the National Gallery where she spent four years, most recently as Head of Strategic Development Projects. In that role, she helped the Gallery to identify and shape projects which fitted its own strategic priorities as well as corresponding to the interests of external funding bodies. Before that she spent 15 years producing and directing TV documentaries on social, political and arts subjects at the International Broadcasting Trust and at Goldhawk Film & TV Productions (of which she was a Director).
Nicola's first degree was in Politics at Sussex followed by an MPhil in Development Studies at the Institut Universitaire d'Etudes du Developpement in Geneva. Nicola is currently studying for an MA in Art History at the Courtauld Institute.
