International Foundation Programme

    The International Foundation programme offered by INTO City University London provides academic preparation for first year undergraduate study at City University London.

    Overview

    If you have successfully completed high school in your home country, the International Foundation programme offered by INTO City University London provides academic preparation for first year undergraduate entry and ensures that you meet the English language requirements for your chosen degree. The programme combines academic study, intensive English language preparation, study skills and cultural orientation. There are two broad pathways in:

    • Business, Humanities and Social Sciences
    • Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics.


    Course Fees:

    • Full-time Non EU: £11,490 (Please check INTO website)

    Entry Requirements

    You need to have completed 12 years of schooling (or the local equivalent to meet the same standard) with good grades.  See INTO City University London for more information.

    English Requirements

    • Four term programme: IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum of 4.5 in writing) or equivalent
    • Three term programme: IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.0 in writing) or equivalent

    If you intend to progress to a degree programme in Business, Law or Journalism, you will need a higher level of English for entry to City University London.

    If you have achieved the minimum IELTS score overall but do not have the required score in writing for direct entry, you will be considered on a case by case basis please see INTO City University London for more information. 

     

    Visa Requirements

    City University London retains Highly Trusted Status from UKBA, enabling us to sponsor international students to study in the UK.

    The way that you apply may vary depending on the length of your course at City, there are different rules for:

    • Students on courses of more than 6 months
    • Students on courses of less than 6 months
    • Students on a pre-sessional English Language course

    Course Content

    International Foundation in Business, Humanities and Social Science
    Preparation for bachelors degrees in Business and Management, Economics, Journalism, Law, Music and Social Sciences.
    The International Foundation combines academic study, intensive English language teaching and study skills to prepare you for entry into the first year of a university degree.

    International Foundation in Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics
    Preparation for bachelors degrees in Computer Science, Informatics, Engineering, and Mathematics. The International Foundation combines academic study, intensive English language teaching and study skills to prepare you for entry into the first year of a university degree.

    Teaching and Assessment

    Assessment is both formal and informal. Entry to all City University London honours degrees is highly competitive, so the purpose of the assessment process is to help you improve and build on your success. Marks from the International Foundation programme do not count towards a final degree, but help the University determine whether you meet key criteria for progression.
