Tutor Info

Faezeh Seyedarabi comes from a Computer Science background that includes software and website development. She has an MSc in Logic and Computation and has completed her PhD Programme. She has designed and developed a number of websites for personal and research use, arising from which she has published a number of national and international papers.

Eligibility

Working knowledge of HTML or successful completion of Web Authoring.

English Requirements

Applicants must be proficient in written and spoken English.

What will I learn?

An introduction to Dreamweaver functionality:

  • Familiarisation with the Dreamweaver workspace and interface. Swapping between the visual and source mode.

Site management:

  • Good site structure, site checking. Using templates and library items.

Cascading Style Sheets:

  • CSS HTML vs CSS styles and how they work, setting up internal and external stylesheets. Class styles and CSS selectors. How to use CSS to create a consistent look and feel to site.

Advanced layout:

  • Using Layers as an alternative to tables. Placing elements precisely on a page.

Design:

  • Creating user-friendly layouts that are well organised and easy to navigate

Accessibility:

  • Accessibility issues and using Dreamweaver to create accessible webpages.

Javascript/behaviours:

  • Using Javascript to create interactive webpages. Using JavaScript to build intelligent pages that can detect plugins and browser.

Multimedia:

  • Optimising images
  • Adding sound and other media (including Flash) to webpages.

Teaching and Assessment

Informal assessment will take place through group discussion, class room activities, and questions and answers sessions as guided by your tutor.
