Arabic Accelerated - Total Beginners Short Courses
The Accelerated Arabic short course objective is to enable students to use Modern Standard Arabic in daily life situations, such as greeting, ordering food, reserving a hotel and travelling. By the end of the Arabic for Total Beginners Accelerated course students should have an understanding of the structure of Arabic, be able to carry a conversation about most social interactions and have an awareness of basic culture aspect of the Arab world. Students will be able to understand simple spoken and written Arabic.
This is a highly intensive course that requires commitment and dedication. By the end of the Arabic for Total Beginners course students will have covered the syllabus normally covered in Modules 1 and 2 of the Arabic Beginners (Year 1) course. Students should expect to study between classes to be able to keep up with the course's pace.

He has experience in teaching modern standard Arabic over 20 years, he has taught in institutions such as; Language Studies Ltd, Uxbridge College, Greenhill College, Hendon College and International House.

What will I learn?
Class taught in Term 2 and combines Modules 1 and 2 of Arabic Beginners (Year 1).
The following topics are covered within the course: The alphabet; greetings; introducing yourself (countries and nationalities; jobs; where you live; your age); the family; the date; hobbies; around the house/room; definite and indefinite articles; masculine and feminine; possessive pronouns; common descriptive adjectives; shopping; colours; verbs in the present and past tense; plurals; there is/are and there isn't/aren't; prepositions of place; comparatives and superlatives; adverbs and negatives; cardinal numbers 2-10; ordinal numbers 1-100; plural patterns; colours and shapes; days of the week; months; time; daily routine; weather; eating and drinking; reservations and travelling; telecommunications.
Teaching and Assessment
Classroom activities will include: drilling, role-playing, listening comprehension, note-taking, gap-filling exercises, writing, reading comprehension, matching exercises, work on pronunciation and intonation, grammar in context and introducing and practising new symbols in class. Students will perform listening, speaking, reading and writing in Arabic.

Students who successfully complete the Accelerated course can progress to Module 3 of Arabic Beginners (Year 1) course and complete the Beginners Level in Arabic by the end of June 2012.
