Transport Strategy and Systems MSc
Overview
This course is for professionals who aspire to manage complex work in transport. It offers both a comprehensive global context and specialised knowledge. You can enhance your career prospects by bringing together a range of professional and academic competencies across the many disciplines which overlap in freight and passenger situations. The focus on integrating technology, sustainability and management approaches reflects the multi-disciplinary challenges which you can expect to meet as a graduate in the workplace, especially in consulting. Programme management for sustainable transport is emphasised. Where possible, the course encourages you to link your study to work-based situations. It is therefore offered for either full time or part time study.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should normally hold a good honours degree (at least 2.1 or equivalent), plus relevant business-facing experience in a transport commercial role. Applicants with academic backgrounds and transport-related work experience in management, law, economics and finance are also encouraged to apply.
Other Suitable Qualifications
Consideration will also be given to candidates who can demonstrate, by relevant work experience and professional qualifications in the transport field, the ability to undertake the course.
English Requirements
Students need to have good professional English in order to read and write literature of a complex interdisciplinary nature.
For students whose first language is not English, the following qualifications will meet the English language requirements of City University London:
IELTS: 6.5
TOEFL (internetbased): 100

Course Content
The course offers students specific insights into the role of consultants, to build understanding of how transport programmes are developed and implemented in partnerships, often founded on strong supply chain relationships.It also aims to build analytical understanding of the policy drivers influencing global transport challenges.
Course Structure
The eight core modules in the course are:- Principles of sustainable transport
- Transport strategy and policy
- Systems and decisions
- Management & leadership
- Transport energy and emissions
- Asset and programme management
- Resilience and security
- Contracts and arbitration
Completion of modules and examinations will lead to the award of a Post Graduate Diploma. The completion of modules, examination and the dissertation will lead to the award of a Master's degree.
Teaching and Assessment
The modular structure is designed to allow both part and full time students to follow the course. Intensive periods of attendance are supported by distance and, where possible, work-based learning.Fees
