The short course is aimed at healthcare support workers or allied health professionals who wish to learn how to take a venous blood sample from an adult.

What will I learn?
The short course will enable you to:- Gain an understanding of legal and professional issues
- Further develop your understanding of anatomy and physiology of the superficial veins in the arm and related structures
- Gain knowledge of common sites for venepuncture
- Develop knowledge skills in the use and techniques of equipment
- Gain supervised practice on a model.
Teaching and Assessment
Mode of deliveryTeaching methods include lectures, group work and simulated practice.
Assessment
Assessment for the short course will consist of being assessed at least six times in practice (however please refer to local policy).
