The Biological Basis of wound healing, tissue viability and Related Pharmacology  CPD

The short course is designed to provide insight into the acute and chronic wounds which are encountered by health professionals in order to ensure that wounds are effectively assessed and informed evidence based decisions can be made about treatment options.

Eligibility

  • You must be a practitioner (qualified or unqualified) in healthcare or a related profession. 

English Requirements

For those students whose first language is not English one of the
following qualifications is also required:

  • IELTS: 7
  • TOEFL (internet-based): 100

What will I learn?

The short course will enable you to:

  • Identify the major stages of tissue repair and explain the key events that take place in each stage
  • Identify the factors required for optimum wound healing
  • Explain the biological roles of the macro and micro-nutrients in effective wound healing
  • Provide a biological explanation for the development of leg ulcers and pressure ulcers
  • Discuss the main features of an infected wound
  • Explain the biological basis of wound products.
