Service users and carers contribute to mental health services in a range of ways, including planning, delivery and evaluation as well as input to research, education and training.

What will I learn?

The module will enable you to:

  • Critically understand how power differentials affect relationships and identify strategies to reduce this effect
  • Actively commit to practice that is service user and carer oriented
  • Identify restraining forces to meeting this goal in their own and others practice and a willingness to address these factors
  • Critically evaluate theory and research relating to service user and carer involvement in professional practice eg. mental health or social care.
