Research Methods CPD
The module enables you to build upon your existing knowledge of research through learning how to construct a creditable research proposal, which you may or may not choose to use as a basis for your MSc dissertation.

Eligibility
- A first degree is not required. However if you do not have a degree you will be asked to complete a short written piece of work which will be assessed by the module leader. You may also be interviewed.
- You need to have two years relevant work experience. Relevant work experience may include working as a mental health and social care practitioner, as a manager within nursing, medicine, social work, the justice system or occupational therapy, or working in the statutory, voluntary or independent health and social care.
English Requirements
For those students whose first language is not English one of thefollowing qualifications is also required:
- IELTS: 7.0
- TOEFL (internet-based): 107
What will I learn?
The module will enable you to- Gain an overview of research methods
- Gain an understanding of the theories and philosophies underpinning various research approaches
- Evaluate research
- Develop the skill of constructing a research proposal.
Teaching and Assessment
Mode of deliveryTeaching methods include a variety of learning methods and primarily consist of interactive methods to promote the understanding of research.
Assessment
Assessment for the module consists of writing a research proposal for a small scale project that could be undertaken with limited resources in a reasonable timeframe by one researcher.
Funding
There are a certain number of commissioned places available in association with the East London NHS Foundation Trust, who have a formal agreement with City University. Prospective students can approach their Line Managers or the Trust Education Lead regarding these.Application Deadline:
