Public Policy and Law CPD
The module aims to promote increased understanding of the factors that influence the development of public sector policy, with an emphasis on the role of user demand and the impact this has on policy and service development.

Eligibility
The module is open to all students registered on a relevant degree programme. The module can also be taken as a stand-alone CPD module. For students who have not previously studied at HE level 2 or level 3, an interview will be required.Work/Clinical Placement Requirements
- You must be working in a suitable practice area.
English Requirements
For those students whose first language is not English one of the following qualifications is also required:- IELTS: 7.0
- TOEFL (internet-based): 107
What will I learn?
The module will enable you to:- Demonstrate a systematic understanding and application of relevant knowledge of how policy and legislation is developed
- Evaluate own knowledge of legislation that influences policy development and apply this knowledge to work-based scenarios
- Interact effectively in learning and professional work groups
- Evaluate own knowledge of the impact of demand and user expectations and its relationship to own practice
- Critically assess and interpret research evidence concerning policy and legislation, service needs and professional practice.
Teaching and Assessment
Mode of deliveryTeaching methods include lectures followed by workplace orientated seminars.
You will engage in Enquiry Based Learning (EBL), group work and collaborative exercises. You will gain subject knowledge and understanding from individual reading and research, tutor guidance and peer group support.
Assessment
Assessment for the module consists of a group presentation, supported by an individual essay that explores the factors influencing policy and reflection of your own learning.
