Physics and Instrumentation of Medical Magnetic Resonance CPD
Medical Magnetic Resonance imaging plays a major role in an ever increasing number of hospitals, both in the NHS and private sector, and as a clinical practitioner you must now be able to function confidently and competently in this rapidly advancing speciality.
In order to achieve this it is important that you have a sound background knowledge in the physics upon which Medical Magnetic Resonance Imaging is based and be equipped with the ability to make judgements ranging from the suitability of specific pulse sequences for a particular procedure through to equipment evaluation and selection for the purchase.
The module requires 6 days attendance at University (from 09.00 to 16.00 with one hour for lunch) on the following dates:

Eligibility
- Honours degree in Radiography or other health related subject
- Appropriate professional qualifications e.g. Diploma of the College of Radiographers
English Requirements
For those students whose first language is not English one of the following qualifications is also required:- IELTS: 7
- TOEFL (internet-based): 100
What will I learn?
The module will enable you to:- Safely and accurately perform the procedures required to assist in the diagnosis of the patient's condition
- Implement the Quality Assurance measures which are required to provide a consistent high quality service
- Gain an understanding of the core principles of MMR and associated instrumentation so that you can apply this material safely and appropriately to the clinical situation
- Become a confident and reflective and critically aware practitioner thus enabling you to work towards advanced and consultant practitioner status
- Undertake service evaluation and research in this clinical speciality that is underpinned by clear strategy and innovation and contribute to the advancement and maintenance of best practice in clinical MMR.
Teaching and Assessment
Teaching methods include lectures, tutorials, seminars, demonstrations, workshops and problem-solving sessions.
Assessment for the module consists of a poster presentation and an essay.
