Eligibility
- You must be a qualified nurse or midwife either in the UK or overseas.
English Requirements
For those students whose first language is not English one of thefollowing qualifications is also required:
- IELTS: 7
- TOEFL (internet-based): 100
What will I learn?
The module will enable you to:- Expand your knowledge of the context of childbirth and current issues in midwifery practice
- Critically appraise the development of midwifery knowledge, practice and care organisation and management
- Apply advanced skills of information and knowledge management for the promotion of health and well-being of childbearing women and their families
- Explore the basis of contemporary midwifery theory and practice using a range of academic theoretical perspectives, eg sociological, ethical and legal
- Explore current challenges and opportunities in the organisation and delivery of midwifery care.
Teaching and Assessment
Mode of deliveryTeaching methods include lectures, seminars and work-based learning.
Assessment
Assessment for the module consists of an essay.
