Eligibility

The short course is suitable for qualified nurses, doctors and midwives.

English Requirements

For those candidates whose first language is not English, one of the following qualifications is also required:

  • IELTS: 7
  • TOEFL (internet-based): 100

What will I learn?

The short course will enable you to:

  • Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to safely perform male urethral catheterisation. 

Teaching and Assessment

Mode of delivery Teaching methods include a combination of theory and practice, which is designed to prepare you with the necessary knowledge and skills for safely undertaking male catheterisation.

Assessment The workshop gives candidates the opportunity to practice on anatomical models, but does not include a formal assessment of competence. Any practitioners undertaking the course will require a period of supervised practice and formal assessment of competence, in their respective clinical areas - this will need to be negotiated locally within their own clinical work-setting and in the context of local policies & professional guidelines.
