Eligibility

Professional/Academic Qualifications
  • You must be a qualified nurse or midwife either in the UK or overseas.
  • You must have at least 9 months experience in intensive care.

Clinical Placement Requirements

The module requires you to be:

  • Working in an intensive care unit

English Requirements

For those students whose first language is not English one of the
following qualifications is also required:

  • IELTS: 7.0
  • TOEFL (internet-based): 110

What will I learn?

The module will enable you to:

  • Appreciate the different causes and impact of haemodynamic compromise
  • Critically discuss assessment and ITU management of haemodynamic compromise
  • Appreciate the impact of reduced renal perfusion and treatment strategies to support renal function.

Mode of delivery
Teaching methods include classroom lectures / seminars, tutorials and self directed study.

Assessment
Assessment for the module consists of a viva voce with one thousand word reflection.
