Healthcare Improvement Project CPD
Building on the values and components investigated in Making Sense of Clinical Governance CH3040 module, Healthcare Improvement Project CH3041 module offers an opportunity to test out clinical governance theory with practical application of benchmarks as you are required to design and implement an improvement project.
The module is intended to equip healthcare professionals with appropriate data collection and analysis tools in order to appraise the implementation of clinical governance within your clinical microsystem. Thus the module encourages you to take practical steps to ensure that your attention to quality protects your patients / clients / service users, your colleagues and yourselves.

Eligibility
(Previous degree required, Background / interest in subject, English language requirements (bullet points))Entry requirements for BSc Health Sciences (online) programme:
- 120 Level 1 credit points and 120 Level 2 credit points in healthcare-related subjects
- Current registration with a professional and regulatory body (healthcare)
English Requirements
For those students whose first language is not English one of the following qualifications is also required:- GCSE English Language at Grade C or above
- IELTS: 6.0
What will I learn?
The module will enable you to:- Critically evaluate service provision in a specific microsystem
- Assess issues that assist or impede the implementation of policies underlined by clinical governance
- Develop a critical approach towards identifying best strategies and formulate an improvement plan
- Evaluate, interpret and communicate data collection methods and data analysis for a specific project
- Critically analyse the impact of any proposed change within the target system and in other interconnected systems
- Assess the strategies which would help to develop and sustain clinical governance in practice.
Teaching and Assessment
Mode of deliveryTeaching methods include online seminars which include interactive applications and online discussions. The module offers you the opportunity to link theory and practice as you design, implement and report on an improvement project within your clinical environment.
Assessment
Assessment for the module consists of a single 3000 word essay which should be your own individual work. You are offered the opportunity to complete two formative assignments prior to submitting their final (summative) essay.
