Enhancing Critical Skills for Midwifery Practice (Foundation)  CPD

The module sets out to enable participants to reflect and consolidate on experiences of managing key life threatening episodes in order to contribute to multidisciplinary team decision making towards reducing the mortality and morbidity associated with childbirth.

Eligibility

  • You must be a qualified nurse or midwife either in the UK or overseas.

English Requirements

For those students whose first language is not English one of the
following qualifications is also required:

  • IELTS: 7
  • TOEFL (internet-based): 100

What will I learn?

The module will enable you to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of critical care concepts in relation to module content
  • Utilise critical care concepts to contribute to midwifery first class service delivery and promote quality care
  • Discuss the rationale for developing or using a framework for managing life threatening episodes
  • Demonstrate key skills in managing key life threatening episodes within a multi-professional framework
  • Initiate and contribute to the development of new protocols and standards for critical care using the best available evidence.

Assessment
Assessment for the module consists of an OSCE.
