The module is relevant for practitioners with good core skills in emergency and urgent care who need to further develop their patient assessment skills and their ability to manage emergency clinical settings.

Eligibility

  • You must be a qualified nurse or midwife either in the UK or overseas.

Work/Clinical Placement Requirements

The module requires you to be:

  • Working in a suitable practice area
  • In a clinical placement
  • Have a clinical mentor.

English Requirements

For those students whose first language is not English one of the
following qualifications is also required:

  • IELTS:  7.0
  • TOEFL (internet-based): 107

What will I learn?

The module will enable you to:

  • Assess and manage patients across the range of dependencies from minor injuries to those requiring resuscitation.

Mode of delivery
Teaching methods include lectures, small group work, clinical practice experience and interprofessional visit.

Assessment
Assessment for the module consists of a clinical skills portfolio which has to be completed in an emergency care setting.
