Eligibility

  • You must be a qualified nurse or midwife either in the UK or overseas.

The module requires you to be:

  • Working in a suitable practice area
  • In a clinical placement
  • Have a clinical mentor.

English Requirements

For those students whose first language is not English one of the
following qualifications is also required:

  • IELTS:  7.0
  • TOEFL (internet-based): 107

What will I learn?

The module will enable you to:

  • Critically discuss core care requirements of the intensive care patient
  • Rationalise mechanical respiratory support
  • Evaluate the effect of respiratory support.

Teaching methods include self-directed study.


Assessment
Assessment for the module consists of essays, objective structured clinical examinations, practice-based assessments and seminar presentations with supporting papers.
