Eligibility

  • You must be a qualified nurse or midwife either in the UK or overseas
  • Working in a suitable practice area
  • Have a clinical mentor.

English Requirements

For those students whose first language is not English one of the
following qualifications is also required:

  • IELTS: 7
  • TOEFL (internet-based): 100

What will I learn?

The module will enable you to:

  • Understand and critically discuss the prevalence of dual diagnosis in different client groups
  • Understand the principles of harm reduction and how it can be used with people with dual diagnosis
  • Acquire practical interventions and strategies that can be used with dual diagnosis clients.

Teaching methods include lectures, seminars and work-based learning.

Assessment
Assessment for the module consists of a practice based assessment which is supervised by a specialist practitioner.
