Eligibility

  • You must be a qualified healthcare professional either in the UK or overseas.

Work/Clinical Placement Requirement

The module requires you to be:

  • Working in an area with level two patients
  • Have a clinical mentor.

English Requirements

For those students whose first language is not English one of the
following qualifications is also required:

• IELTS: 6.5
• TOEFL (internet-based): 107

What will I learn?

The module will enable you to:

  • Critically evaluate the role of biological sciences in effective infection control immunity and pharmacology
  • Critically evaluate and apply principles underpinning infection control policies/procedures within a clinical care setting
  • Demonstrate comprehensive and detailed knowledge of the specialist role of the infection control team and your own role boundaries in prevention/management of infections.

Teaching and Assessment

Mode of delivery
Teaching methods include lectures and work-based learning.

Assessment
Assessment for the module consists of a 2,000 word essay about an aspect of infection control relevant to your own clinical area.
