Dermatology  CPD

The short course covers revision of the anatomy of the skin, taking a dermatological history, documentation of rashes and lesions, red flags in dermatology, skin care in the sun, atopic and irritant eczema on day one.

Eligibility

  • You must be a qualified nurse or midwife either in the UK or overseas.

Work/Clinical Placement Requirements

The module requires you to be:

  • Working in a suitable practice area.

What will I learn?

The short course will enable you to:

  • Gain knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the skin
  • Take a dermatological history
  • Recognise red flags in dermatology
  • Identify and treat Atopic eczema, psoriasis, acne, fungal/bacterial/viral/parasitic skin infections as well as skin care and travel health/skin cancer.

Teaching and Assessment

Mode of delivery
Teaching methods include lectures, group discussions and practical sessions. 

Assessment
There is no formal assessment, although pictorial quizzes are used to assess knowledge gained.
