Clinical Assessment in Primary Care CPD
The module focuses on practitioners using first contact skills to be able to effectively and holistically apply knowledge and skills in reviewing, history taking and health assessment (physical examination) for the purpose of diagnosis of commonly presenting illnesses and injuries (e.g. musculoskeletal injuries).

Eligibility
- You must be a qualified nurse or midwife either in the UK or overseas.
English Requirements
For those students whose first language is not English one of thefollowing qualifications is also required:
- IELTS: 6.5
- TOEFL (internet-based): 100
What will I learn?
The module will enable you to:- Analyse and interpret history, presenting symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information to develop appropriate differential diagnoses
- Provide an on-going re-evaluation of physical and psychological status and refer for follow-up and treatment as needed
- Demonstrate appropriate specialist referral for clients whilst remaining the primary care provider.
Teaching and Assessment
Mode of deliveryTeaching methods include a mixture of e learning, taught lectures and practical sessions which will enable the student to practice physical examination skills whist in the classroom with the help of the tutor and their peers.
Assessment
Assessment for the module is via a 3,000 word written case study.
