Advanced Clinical Practice CPD
The module addresses the skills of advanced clinical practice with a primary focus on the advanced practice skills associated with Case Management (Department of Health, 2006). The module prepares the practitioner to function as a Case Manager and to lead a team of Case Managers.

Eligibility
- You must be a qualified healthcare practitioner either in the United Kingdom or overseas.
Professional/Academic Qualifications:
- Normally students will have a first degree in a health care profession.
The module requires you to be:
- Working in a suitable practice area
- In a clinical placement
- Have a clinical mentor.
English Requirements
For those students whose first language is not English one of thefollowing qualifications is also required:
- IELTS: 7.0
- TOEFL (internet-based): 107
What will I learn?
The module will enable you to:- Recognise some of the external factors that can have an impact on health and illness
- Demonstrate your role as a Case Manager, managing the health and illness regimen of the person/client from assessment, prescribing, emotional support and counselling through to referral and/or discharge
- Critically appraise and diagnose potential and actual health stressors which impact the person's/client's normal and flexible lines of defence and employ treatment modalities which are evidence based and ethically sound
- Identify discrete cultural and ethnic influences in relation to patient/client and families
- Provide leadership and consultancy function as required.
Teaching and Assessment
Mode of deliveryTeaching methods includes lectures provided by Case Managers recognised as specialists in their field of practice, student led discussions, group work and mentored and observed clinical practice.
Assessment
Assessment for the module consists of a 3,000 word essay based on the Domains of Practice and Competencies specified for advanced practice and case management (Department of Health, 2006).
