Martin Szomszor

Martin Szomszor, Research Fellow, CeRC

Dr Martin Szomszor joined CeRC in December 2009 as a Research Fellow. He has a BSc and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Southampton, writing his Undergraduate Dissertation on Recording and Reasoning over Data Provenance in Web and Grid, and his Doctoral Thesis on Dynamic Discovery, Creation, and Invocation of Type Adaptors for Web Service Workflow Harmonisation. In 2006, Martin began work on the TAGora project (http://www.tagora-project.eu/) investigating Semiotic Dynamics in Online Social Communities. During this time, he developed a number of Semantic Web infrastructures to enable the collection, representation, and reasoning over various social networking activities, such as collaborative tagging and community formation. In 2009, He collaborated with Partners at ISI, Torino, to create the Live Social Semantics application: a novel Semantic Web enabled platform for integrating face-to-face communication with online social networking information. LSS was successfully deployed at the European Semantic Web Conference in Create, Greece (ESWC2009), and the Hypertext Conference in Turin, Italy (HT2009). In September 2009, Martin worked on the EnAKTing project at Southampton, providing advanced Semantic Web technologies to support the publishing, discovery, and consumption of Linked Data.
